Electronic Gifts That Did Well Over the Holidays

Over the holiday season, a lot of electronics were purchased because people enjoy the ingenuity of fresh designs and concepts, and also because everyone wants to be the first to have innovative products. However, this year, the most popular electronic gifts for the year were actually reconfigured designs. Perhaps people have become very accustomed to familiar formats and easy-to-use platforms. Consumers may have stuck to favorite games instead of trying something new. What remains to be seen is whether or not the innovations of the new year will be as successful as the the reconfigured best-sellers (for example, the strictly net-based Chrome netbook, which is currently running a beta launch in select markets).

Trusted and true, Kindle was a favorite again this season. People just love having a tablet on which they can read books with ease. Book readers have become very popular. Instead of buying bulky books that take up all the room in your house or lugging around a laptop to read books online, this slim gadget makes a consumer’s entire library of book portable. Kindle 3G wireless is competitive with the iPad, allowing users to browse for and download books instantly.

No longer the source of four-hour long queues at the Apple Store, the iPhone was still a big hit for the holidays. While the smart phone market has produced many contenders with very similar features and apps, the iPhone is still a favorite. Along with the iPhone 4, the iPod Touch 4th Generation was also a big seller.

Flat screen TVs reign supreme. The new 3D televisions were a little slow on the marketplace, perhaps because they require more development or because of the prohibitive expense of the TV and 3D DVDs. In future years, you may find yourself excitedly purchasing a newly packaged 3D TV, but right now the flat screen seems to be more popular.
